1 1/2 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
2 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
4 Tablespoon(T)  butter, cut into small pieces
6 Ounce(oz)  semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 Cup(c)  milk
1   egg
21 Ounce(oz)  cherry pie filling
1/2 Cup(c)  nuts, finely chopped


Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and butter. Cut with a pastry blender until the crumbs are the size of large peas. Using a double boiler, melt the semisweet chocolate chips. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly at room temperature, about 5 minutes. Add the milk and egg to the melted chocolate and mix well. Blend the chocolate into the flour mixture. Spread the cherry pie filling in the bottom of a 2 quart casserole. Drop the chocolate batter randomly over the cherries. Sprinkle with the nuts. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the top is golden. Serve hot.
