Ingredients

1 Teaspoon(t)  brown sugar
2 Teaspoon(t)  white vinegar
2 Teaspoon(t)  soy sauce
1 Tablespoon(T)  sugar
5 Tablespoon(T)  dark sesame oil
2 Teaspoon(t)  white sesame seeds
1 1/2 Pound(lb)  fresh asparagus

Preparation

Discard woody ends of asparagus and cut asparagus into 1 to 1 1/2 inch long pieces. Bring a pot of water to a boil and fill a bowl with ice water. Drop the asparagus into the boiling water for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove with strainer or tongs and drop into the ice water to stop the cooking. Leave in the ice water for 1 to 2 minutes and then pat dry with a paper towel. Whisk dressing ingredients together. Let stand for 10 minutes for flavors to blend. Whisk again, add half of the sesame seeds, pour over the asparagus, and toss. Cover with plastic wrap and set in the refrigerator for 3 hours. Remove from the refrigerator, remove plastic wrap, toss well, add remaining sesame seeds, and serve.
