Fresh lump crabmeat from blue crabs is always our choice for this salad, as we find it far sweeter and more succulent than that of any other crab, but Dungeness is also pleasing.

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon(T)  lime juice, freshly squeezed
1 Tablespoon(T)  yellow onion, finely minced
1 Clove(clv)  garlic, peeled and finely minced
2 Tablespoon(T)  fresh parsley, minced
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  powdered oregano, dried
6 Ounce(oz)  mixed greens
2   medium ripe hass avocados, halved peeled and cut into 1/4 inch slices
2   small ripe tomatoes, cored and cut into 8 wedges each
1 Pinch(pn)  salt, to taste
1 Pinch(pn)  black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
1 Pound(lb)  fresh lump crabmeat, from blue crabs or dungeness crabs
1/2 Cup(c)  mayonnaise

Preparation

Pick over the crabmeat to remove any pieces of shell or cartilage. Mix together thoroughly the mayonnaise, lime juice, onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, and salt and pepper in a medium mixing bowl. Fold in the crabmeat. Arrange the mixed greens on large plates. Spoon the crabmeat in the center of each. Place the avocado slices and tomato wedges all around and serve at once.
