My favorite way to serve is without frosting and with ice cream.

Serves To:USMetric
1 1/3 Cup(c)  water
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1 1/4 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
2 1/4 Cup(c)  flour
2   eggs
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
2 Cup(c)  sugar
3/4 Cup(c)  butter or margarine
3 Ounce(oz)  baking chocolate


Melt chocolate in custard cup in the microwave; cool.

Cream butter or margarine, sugar and vanilla in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy (use the electric mixer).

Add eggs and cooled chocolate; blend well.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add alternately with water to creamed mixture.

Pour into 2 greased (I use Pam) 8" cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

(You may also bake in a 9x13" pan for 45 minutes, or until done.)

Serve with whipped cream, ice cream or frost with your favorite icing.
