My family is Italian Catholic and comes from Palermo, Sicily. This is one of our favorite salads.

Serves Tool

3 Tablespoon(T)  olive oil
2 Teaspoon(t)  wine vinegar
2 Teaspoon(t)  tarragon vinegar
2 Teaspoon(t)  lemon juice
1/8 Teaspoon(t)  oregano
1/8 Teaspoon(t)  basil
1 Clove(clv)  garlic, crushed
1 Pinch(pn)  salt, to taste
1 Dash(ds)  mustard powder
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  dry parsley flakes
1/2   red pepper, chopped
6   black olives
1 Pinch(pn)  pepper, to taste
2 Pound(lb)  broccoli


Place water in a saucepan. Add broccoli, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook until tender. Drain and cool. Meantime, combine oil, vinegars, lemon juice, oregano, basil, garlic, salt, pepper, mustard powder and parsley flakes in a jar. Shake well. Pour over broccoli in a bowl. Add red pepper and black olives and chill.
