Recipe Description
This is a more traditional fruitcake recipe from Poland. I found the addition of figs to be a sweet tasting surprise.

5   eggs
1 1/2 Cup(c)  confectioners' sugar
2/3 Cup(c)  butter, creamed
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract
2 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
2 3/4 Cup(c)  flour
3 Ounce(oz)  candied orange rind, finely chopped
3 Ounce(oz)  raisins, steamed
2 Ounce(oz)  walnuts, finely chopped
2 Ounce(oz)  figs, finely sliced
2 Ounce(oz)  prunes, finely sliced
1 Teaspoon(t)  cornstarch


Beat the eggs with the sugar for 7 minutes. Add to the butter by small portions, still beating. Add vanilla, baking powder, and flour. Beat another 10 minutes at medium speed. Fold in the fruits mixed with cornstarch. Bake in a long, narrow loaf pan, buttered and sprinkled with bread crumbs, at 375 degrees F for 50 minutes. Serve thinly sliced.
