4 Cup(c)  whipping cream
6   egg yolks
2 Cup(c)  milk
1 Cup(c)  unsweetened cocoa
2 1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
4 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
1/2 Cup(c)  coffee flavored liqueur
2 Cup(c)  strong coffee


In a large pan, combine sugar, cocoa, milk, and coffee. Cook over medium high heat, stirring often, just until mixture comes to a boil, about 5 minutes. In a medium sized bowl, beat egg yolks lightly with a wire whisk. Gradually whisk in 1 cup of the hot milk mixture, then pour egg mixture into pan, whisking constantly. Cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly, until custard thickens slightly and smoothly coats the back of a metal spoon, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool to lukewarm. Add cream, vanilla, and the 1/2 cup liqueur to custard. Pour into a 1 gallon ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's directions. Serve soft, or spoon into a container, cover, and freeze for up to 3 weeks. If desired, offer coffee flavored liqueur and crushed coffee beans to top individual servings.
