Recipe Description
This is a good, make ahead side dish that's even more delicious the second day.

Ingredients

1 1/2 Tablespoon(T)  white vinegar
1 Tablespoon(T)  brown sugar
1/2   bay leaf
2   cloves
1   apple, peeled and chopped
4 Cup(c)  red cabbage, coarsely shredded
1/2 Cup(c)  onion, finely chopped
1 Teaspoon(t)  canola oil

Preparation

In a heavy skillet, heat the oil over medium high heat.  Add the onion and saute until tender.  Add the cabbage, apple, cloves and bay leaf.  Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.  If the cabbage gets dry, add a small amount of water.  Add the sugar and vinegar to the cabbage mixture and toss gently.  Cover and cook for about 5 minutes longer.  Serve immediately.
