Recipe Description
Simple the best chili con carne is so delicious, and you'll never notice the switch to soybeans.  You may as well make a double or triple batch, and freeze the extra for a busy night.

1 Pound(lb)  lean ground beef
12 Ounce(oz)  tomatoes, stewed
12 Ounce(oz)  black soy beans
1   medium yellow onion, diced
2 Tablespoon(T)  chili powder
1 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  cumin
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  red pepper
1   bay leaf
3   whole cloves


Brown the ground beef in a heavy saucepan or Dutch oven.  Drain off the excess fat.  Return to heat and add the remaining ingredients.  Cover and simmer on low for at least 1 hour.  Check halfway through, and add a little water if it needs it.  Remove bay leaf and discard.  Serve warm with diced onion, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese as toppings.
