Ingredients

1 Cup(c)  buttermilk
1   egg, beaten
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1 Cup(c)  nuts
3/4 Cup(c)  corn oil
3/4 Cup(c)  sugar
1 Cup(c)  brown sugar
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  ginger
2 Teaspoon(t)  cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
2 1/4 Cup(c)  flour

Preparation

Mix together the flour, salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ginger, both sugars and oil. Remove 3/4 cup of this mixture and add to it the nuts and 1 additional teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside for topping. To the remaining batter, add soda, baking powder, egg and buttermilk. Mix well. Pour batter into greased 9 by 13 inch pan. Sprinkle on topping. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 to 45 minutes. Allow at least 10 minutes to cool prior to serving.
