These delicious pretzels are soft and perfect for after school snacking.

2 Package(pk)  dry yeast
1/2 Cup(c)  warm water
2 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1/2 Cup(c)  warm water
1 Pinch(pn)  coarse salt, to taste
4 1/2 Cup(c)  flour
1 Teaspoon(t)  salt


Dissolve yeast in water. Add salt and flour. Knead until smooth. Cover with a cloth and let rise about 15 minutes. Divide dough into 16 portions. Roll each piece into a narrow roll and shape pretzels. Dip each pretzel in soda solution and sprinkle with salt. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 450 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes.
