3 Tablespoon(T)  liquid butter flavoring
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1/2 Cup(c)  butter
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1/2 Cup(c)  brown sugar
1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
1/2 Cup(c)  light corn syrup
10 Cup(c)  pretzels, salted (pretzel shaped, not sticks)


Spray a large baking pan with a nonstick spray, pour in the pretzels, and set aside. In a saucepan over low heat, combine the corn syrup, sugar, brown sugar, salt, and butter. Mix well. When the mixture is melted and starts to bubble lightly, place a lid on the pan for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, remove the lid and stir with a clean spoon to help prevent any sugar or salt crystals from getting back into the syrup mixture. Turn the temperature down and let the syrup boil gently for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. When the mixture has cooked for 5 minutes remove it from the heat, add the baking soda, and stir. Make sure all the baking soda has been mixed through. The sugar will foam and this is normal. Add the butter flavoring and stir well. Pour the hot toffee syrup over the pretzels. Stir, making sure all the pretzels are coated. Preheat the oven to 225°F and bake the pretzels for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to coat them with the toffee mixture. When they're finished baking, remove the pretzels from the oven and pour them onto a nonstick surface. Plastic wrap works well for this and is easy to clean up.
